The scheme encompasses all roofing types for domestic, industrial and commercial properties and is open to all roofing contractors to apply. If 50% or more of your roof needs to be replaced, then under the Building Regulations, your Local Authority needs to be notified a minimum of 48 hours before work commences. If you don’t then you risk a fine of up to £5,000, plus the cost of putting the work right if it isn’t up to the required standards. By using a Competent Roofer member, property owners will save not only time and money but will have the added reassurance that the work carried out meets the exacting standards of the Building Regulations.
ISO 9001 & OHSAS 18001
ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. It can be used by any organisation, large or small, regardless of its field of activity . The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001:2008 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits. Checking that the system works is a vital part of ISO 9001:2008. An organisation must perform internal audits to check how its quality management system is working.
OHSAS 18001 is an Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series for health and safety management systems. It is intended to help an organisation control occupational health and safety risks. It was developed in response to widespread demand for a recognised standard against which to be certified and assessed. OHSAS 18001 was created via a concerted effort from a number of the worlds leading national standards bodies, certification bodies, and specialist consultancies.
Adhering to OHSAS 18001 enables Clarke Roofing to create the best possible working conditions across the organisation, identify hazards and put in place controls to manage them, reduce work place accidents and illness, engage and motivate staff with better, safer working conditions, and demonstrate compliance to customers and suppliers.
