Sustainable Roofs (Shingles and Shakes) Winner Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd

Award-winning Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd, who are based in Eastbourne, has just won another prestigious industry award for their work.

BBC newsreader Louise Minchin presented the team with the award for “Shingles & Shakes” in the Sustainable Roofing category at this year’s annual National Federation of Roofing Contractors UK Roofing Awards Ceremony in London for works carried out to Wadhurst Church Spire in East Sussex.

The storm on St Jude’s day in October 2013 caused severe damage to the church spire in Wadhurst. Not only had the shingles been removed but the entire structure to one facet was ripped away leaving a gaping hole in the side of the spire.

Managing Director Frank Clarke said “Shingles are a truly renewable and sustainable roofing and cladding material with one of the lowest carbon footprints of any widely used building product; they are perfect for the churches and other buildings of local and national importance.”

Frank added  “I’m am once again extremely  proud of the guys who carried out this project – they are all NVQ Heritage trained and their hard work and dedication has really paid off and I’m pleased they were able to collect the award and receive the recognition they deserve.”

The National Federation of Roofing Contractors is the UK’s largest roofing trade association representing over 70% of the roofing industry by value. The NFRC actively ensures that members offer high standards of workmanship and sound business practice through a strict code of practice and vetting procedure, including site inspections and adhering to the Government endorsed TrustMark standards.
